Steeped For Success
By Sheri McGregor

On my knees in the garden, I pulled up weeds around the now-blooming chamomile plants I'd nestled into the dirt several months ago. Then it dawned on me -- this plant with the dainty white flowers is the same one used in my bedtime tea. I could harvest it myself, I thought, wondering if it would be more flavorful than store-bought. But then a problem surfaced. Were the leaves dried for the tea? Or was it the flowers? Or, both?

Letting go of the idea for a moment, my mind wandered. Just possessing something isn't enough, I realized. Owning something can't do you any good without also possessing the know-how to use it.

What about you and your dreams? Often we possess certain abilities or talents, but without the needed know-how, our dreams get stalled. For the tea, a web or internet groups search will lead me to people who can help me use my chamomile plants for eventual steeping. To assist me in other areas, I belong to journalist, author, entrepreneurial, hypnotherapy and speaking associations.  National organizations often have local networking groups where other dreamers have great ideas and knowledge to share – kind of like a mixture of aromatic teas, combined for an even tastier brew. Get involved, and find yourself steeped for success.

Where can you receive help to launch, expand, or continue reaching your dreams? Please email me with links to organizations you have found helpful. Here are a few of my favorite organizations:

For You Network
NAFE
National Speakers Association
Small Business Administration
Toastmasters
