Spring, the Season of rebirth:

Our family egg hunt this Easter got me thinking about the influence of mythology on some traditions, and the roots behind the rites and celebrations of spring. Scholars and historians believe the name "Easter" is derived from that of two goddesses that signify fertility: the Scandinavian, "Ostre" and the Teutonic "Eastre," The eggs and rabbits associated with Easter are firmly rooted in their symbolic representations for the sunlight and fertility of spring.

Spring is a time of re-birth. Just as a mother bear emerges from the cave and begins the process of weaning her cubs away to make room for new, spring can be a time of cleaning out--not just of our cabinets and drawers--but also of old baggage and limiting beliefs. With spring's celebrations having their roots in re-birth and fertility, the season brings a wave of productivity. Welcome sunlight after a long winter can feed the gardens of our and minds with rich new soil that sprouts fertile ideas to carry us into a brighter future. The longer days and milder weather give us the energy to pursue those ideas to the bloom of fulfillment.

Just as the Jewish Passover honors the Biblical Israelites' flight to freedom, we can make the season of spring a time to break loose the shackles of limiting thoughts, habits and beliefs--and fly free toward our future.

Do you have a recurring, self-recriminate thought or belief that troubles you or holds you back? Watch for the next newsletter which will offer examples from strong, successful women who have altered negative thoughts and worries that could have held them prisoner--into positive action. Their situations will offer how-to information we can apply to your own lives, and I will include a section devoted to this on the website.

Can You Help?
I'd like to keep this section growing (get the spring joke?!?), so if you have successfully altered a limiting belief, please, inspire other women with how you changed that thinking. Please send me email so that I can post your thoughts, anonymously if you choose, to the website. We can all grow together.

In the meantime, look around at the pale yellow and green leaves of new growth and newly forming buds that will later burst into juicy fruit. Listen to the rippling breezes that hint of warm summer winds, and the birds chirping their exuberant songs that sing the joy of life. The signs of spring with all its glorious promises of the future are all around--even inside you.
